How old do I need to be to enter?
All participants must be aged 18+ to enter our event
Will the course be marked or marshaled?
The course is designed to be self-navigated using the maps and instructions provided on the Participants page so you shouldn’t expect any markings. However, we do try and assist runners with markings in the form of orange spray-painted arrows on the ground at key points, so keep your eyes down! And of course each of our water stations and additional checkpoints are manned by people to point you in the right direction.
Can I wear headphones?
Headphones are not permitted on the course. Although the course is mainly off-road, there are still several road crossings to be made and all the footpaths are used regularly by cyclists and horse-riders who may need to get past you. For your own safety, we request that they are not worn and participants who do choose to may be disqualified.
Will I receive a race-pack?
No. Entrants will receive a confirmation email immediately after signing up with race information enclosed. Numbers should be collected on the morning of the race from 7:45am onwards (7:15am for Hilly Billy 50k runners).
What facilities are there at Race HQ?
We have use of toilet, shower and changing facilities and our parking facilities are just a short walk away. There is a secure, manned bagging area and more post-race refreshments (situated in the clubhouse) than you can shake a stick at!
Are there any water stations on route?
Yes! The half marathon runners have 2 stations situated at miles 6.5 and 9 miles. The 20 mile route has 4 situated at approximately miles 6.6, 11.1, 16.53, and about half mile from the finish. For the marathon runners that follow the 20 mile route, there’s an additional station at mile 23.2. Hilly Billy 50k runners get one at approximately miles 5, 11.5, 16, 21.5, 24.5 and 28. The marathon and 20 mile stations all include sweets, flapjacks, crisps and bananas in addition to water and flat coke.
I can no longer attend, can I get a refund?
We are unable to offer any refunds but you can transfer your place to another runner up to 30 days before the event. We are also able to defer your place to next years event up to the day before the race, just email us!
Is there a cut-off time for any of the races?
We operate a 6-hour cut-off time for the marathon event. Runners need to be at our 20-mile checkpoint by 2pm otherwise they may be turned back towards the finish. If this happens, affected runners will be issued with an official 20 mile time (and medal if we have some!)
We operate a 7-hour cut-off time for the Hilly Billy 50k. Runners need to be at our 25 mile checkpoint by 2pm otherwise they may be turned back towards the finish. If this happens, affected runners will be issued with an official 20 mile time (and medal if we have some!)
What does a ‘cup free event’ mean?
This means that we will no longer have drinks available at our checkpoints in plastic cups. The same drinks will be there, however you MUST bring your own cup or bottle to fill at these stations. Cups can be bought when you sign up which you can collect on race day, or you can buy direct from Decathlon. There will be a small number available to buy on race day should you forget. If you are unable to show our registration desk that you have a suitable cup or bottle to take on the course with you, you will not be allowed to run.
